In 2005 Save the Children UK in SEE started with its process of regionalization in order to achieve greater focus and impact in our work over the short and medium term with an enhanced focus on policy and practice changes at both country and European level. SCUK in SEE has a balanced programme with Child Protection and Inclusive Education being the two main areas of programming. In these areas SC will be acknowledged as the leading organization by civil society including children, the government and international actors based on our demonstrable impact on children and clear communication. In line with the increasing importance of accountability, we are committed to strengthening our focus on measurable outcomes for children from our work, our capacity to plan effectively and to measure impact in our programmes, using Thematic Programme Plans for Protection and Education as a crucial tool in achieving this change.
SC UK operates in the region through 5 programmes based in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo/a, Montenegro and Serbia. SC in Kosovo is a consolidated SC Alliance members programme led by SC UK. SC Sweden, SC Norway and SC Italy contribute funding and also participate in its management. SC in Albania is also an Alliance programme led by SC Norway, while SC UK, SC Sweden and SC Italy contribute funding towards the programme and participate in the management steering group. SC UK's programme approach in the region includes working in partnership with all levels of society: children, parents, community groups, the media and local, national and international authorities to achieve change for children. Children's participation is a key element of programmes as well as a strong advocacy element based on our field experience.
